Living with congenital heart disease

About 25,000 children and 50,000 adults with a congenital heart defect are living in the Netherlands. A team of experts at the Erasmus MC provides them with specialized care and studies how their care can be improved.

In this video, cardiologist Dr Judith Cuypers discusses patients with congenital heart defects. Thanks to the introduction of surgical techniques, their life expectancy has dramatically improved. This has shifted the focus of care from survival to quality of life. For example, can you play sports with a heart defect and what about getting pregnant?
